Moving to a new location is difficult for everyone in the family,
and it is especially hard on your canine friend.
If you are aware of your dog's feelings,
you will be able to help him adjust to the changes.

Before You Move:

• Check on local dog laws in your new community.
  
• Find the location of the closest emergency animal hospital.
  
• Take your dog for a walk in the new neighborhood. It will help
  your dog to get used to the new area and to meet some of the neighbors.
  
• Before you move in, let your dog walk through
  the new house or apartment.
  
• Order a new ID tag with the new address and phone number.
  

After You Move:

• Put the new ID tag on your dog.
  
• Unpack your dog's things first. Put his water bowl out.
  Bring out his bed and some toys. This will help give your dog
  somewhere to go and something to do during the time you are unpacking.
  
• Find a good veterinarian.
  
• Spend extra time with your dog. A move is stressful for him.
  
• Be patient. Just like you need time to adjust to a big change,
  so does your dog.
  

Take extra care to make your pet comfortable in his new home. Your dog will not only be happier, but he will adjust to the changes and be a well-behaved pet.
